Cognitive psychology

Cognitive psychology is a branch of psychology that focuses on understanding how the mind works. It explores the internal processes that influence behavior, including perception, attention, memory, decision-making, problem-solving, and language. Cognitive psychologists research and measure the mental processes that people use to think, learn, remember, and solve problems.

Perception: Perception is the process of interpreting sensory information from the environment. It involves recognizing and understanding visual, auditory, and tactile stimuli. Cognitive psychologists study how people perceive objects, colors, shapes, and sounds, and how these perceptions influence behavior.

Attention: Attention is the ability to focus on a particular stimulus or task. Cognitive psychologists examine how people are able to concentrate on one task while tuning out distractions. They also study how people shift their attention from one task to another and how they remember details they have noticed.

Memory: Memory is the ability to store and recall information. Cognitive psychologists study how people remember information, and how memory affects behavior. They also examine how people can enhance their memory and how memories can be distorted.

Decision-Making: Decision-making is the process of making choices based on available information. Cognitive psychologists analyze how people weigh options, and consider the consequences of their actions.
