Organ Donation: The Gift of Life

Organ Donation is a noble cause that needs to be highlighted and discussed more often. It has the potential to save thousands of lives across the globe. With the help of organ donation, many individuals can lead a normal life and have a better quality of life.

Organ Receiving & Giving Awareness Network (ORGAN) India is an initiative of the Parashar Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Delhi. The former Chairperson, Late Mrs. Kirti Parashar, was herself a donor-heart recipient. The organization’s main objective is to spread widespread awareness on organ donation in all ways possible (in schools, colleges, offices), and to help those facing organ failure (through counselling, helplines and information dissemination) to know everything they can and enable them to get the right help. They send an organ donor card along with a certificate to those who pledge.

As an intern at ORGAN, an NGO based in Delhi, I have had the opportunity to help create awareness about organ donation among the people in the city. Through this initiative, we will helped spread the importance of organ donation and how it can help save another person’s life.

I plan to conduct several activities to help spread awareness. These activities include creating posters and flyers, conducting workshops in schools and colleges, organizing events in public places, and most importantly, engaging people in conversations about organ donation.

I would like to organized several campaigns such as ‘Donate Life’ and ‘Organ Donation: The Gift of Life’. These campaigns mission is to help spread the message of organ donation among the masses. Through these activities, I will be able to create awareness about the importance of organ donation and how it can help save a life. It has been an amazing experience thus far to be a part of this initiative.
